<p>In France, efforts to combat the large wildfire near Fontainebleau continued throughout the night, but the fire still appears to be spreading. Of the 25,000-hectare natural area southeast of Paris, 1,900 hectares have been destroyed by the flames. “It is not under control,” Interior Minister Nuñez said yesterday.</p><p>The destruction is already far greater than that caused by the largest wildfire previously recorded in the area, which occurred in 1921.
